You might try keeping the can of coffee in an open, ventilated area. For example, on top of the refrigerator, or on the counter next to the coffee maker, or on an open shelf rather than in a closed cupboard..

If it's just for you, an Aeropress would be perfect. It's just a plastic tube, you heat water in the microwave and press it through a little filter. It makes concentrated coffee which you then have to water down, but that would be an advantage for iced coffee since you want it stronger anyway because the melting ice cubes will water it down.

If you are making coffee for more than one, a French Press would be my choice.
Start out with a nice flavored coffee… such as Hazelnut cream or Caramel Walnut… something rich and wonderful smelling. Next you can always add Splenda, or another calorie free sugar substitute. If the good flavor and sweetness aren't enough and you still want the creaminess… try some of the Coffeemate brand creamers… Mocha, Hazelnut, Irish cream… and no calories!!

So if you really feel compelled to visit, I say go down there, view the site respectfully, and leave. Don't take photos. Don't buy all the offensive tourist souvenirs being sold (they are no longer near the site anymore, thank goodness!) Don't pose with your friends.
I can't say more than that. I certainly hope there ISN'T a commercial venture staging a "tour" of the site for a profit. That's all I can say on the subject!

Not sure of the exact size of your coffee pot, cups, or measuring spoon, however 40 oz of water will yeild approximately seven 6 oz cups of coffee. One half ounce of fresh ground coffee which is approximately 4 heaping tablespoons of coffee will give you a good tasting coffee (not too strong). You should get about 30 pots per pound of coffee. I've never heard of Peet's coffee but if it's that nasty tasting your office should consider some flavored coffees for a treat. Who wants to start the day on lousy tasting coffee!

I like my coffee light with good flavor but no bitter taste. Wal mart french blend leans to the bitter side. Better to get regular coffee from folgers. I use two TEASPOONS, rounded, not heaping for a coffee maker your size. Some people weird out when I say that, thinking it won't have good flavor, but They change their tune once they taste it. The other secret, is to keep that coffee maker clean. About once a month, I run white vinegar thru the machine, just like you were making coffee, but use the vinegar (white) instead of water, and of course no coffee or filter. Then follow that with two runs of just water thru it, full cycle both times, and your coffee won't taste bitter or oily.

Certainly they can be "themed" with regard to age groups, though you may find 80 year old women bidding as high as younger, on Spa passes etc.
Actually I'd avoid FOOD in any form, no offense, but that's cliche, and common. Certainly NIGHTS OUT, offering not discounts but FREE meals, entertainment, a carriage ride around a city, etc. seems more of a GIFT, in my opinion.
Even along with the idea of a getaway/spa, you could offer more modest situations, such as a day at a center that offers facials, mud baths, eye, hair, cosmetics, a Rose, a glass of wine.
Since this a a Females only auction, you might assume not to offend, most especially the elderly, with baskest of items mundane and so much what they might already experience in a day to day life.
Even as a GUY I might not mind some pampering or special treatment. I have to believe the Ladies would as well.
I want to assume some of the items will be donated, by sponsorship, even if they want to promote their venue, but don't do Dollars off coupons, or even two for one, unless you promote something as Take a friend along, or share with a friend.
20 year old women might obviously be less inclined to a movie pass, as they might be a club, or show, or a form of entertainment romantic, although I want to assume any age group would enjoy that.
The fact that the chairty is for children, does not at all dictate that items offered for auction need be so distant from that which might elicit passion, romance, getting away from the realities. and those items need not at all be offensive, but need not be simplistic and sterile either.
You could offer classes, in various venues from ART to Karate. Shopping cards for a mall or specific stores that might be a shopping experience enjoyed.
You might offer some means of transportation in passes, or even find an organization (Ive used these) that prepares and delivers various meals, ready to eat. (NOT MEALS ON WHEELS). Offer a monthly floral arrangement or plant, delivered. Offer subscriptions to magazines, NETFLIX, etc.
Assuming this is a Charity event, I'll hope every bidder will go as high as they can reasonably afford, well offer what the actual cost is to you, over the contents of the basket.
Finally, and certainly a thank you card in each, perhaps a token flower or candy, and in all sense the Presentation does matter.
