absolutely the best baby gift hands down is a diaper cake. First of all it wont get thrown in the garbage 4 days later like flowers and balloons, but most importantly every item from the diaper cake is going to be useful to the new parents and it makes a great centerpiece in babys room or baby shower.

Most people will tell you to get a smaller gift for the shower and a larger gift for the wedding. Personally, I get 1 large gift and that's it. I spend the same amount of money regardless.
The women who came to my Bridal shower did not get me a 2nd gift for the wedding.
Gifts are not required at a Bachelorette Party, unless specifically stated. Sometimes girls will do lingerie gifts, but not always.
They're all over the place. A good website for finding specifics is Google. A good search term would be "wholesale [insert name of item you want to put in basket here]" if you don't know what you want to include, just come up with one or two ideas, like soaps, lotions, cheeses, candies, and a site that has one of these will usually have all sorts of different items that you might like to include.
As a side note, I'd like to mention that "green" and/or organic and/or fair trade items are very popular these days….and people are willing to pay more for them.

This is a fabulous salad. Every time I bring it anywhere I get compliments on it. The dressing is delicious, but don't add it or the almonds until right before serving. You can also use strawberries or raspberries instead of oranges.
TROPICAL SPINACH SALAD
5 cups torn fresh spinach
3 cups torn romaine lettuce
2 cups torn leaf lettuce
1 11 oz. can mandarin oranges, drained
1 small purple onion, sliced and separated into rings
¼ cup sliced almonds, toasted
Place first five ingredients in a large bowl. Toss with Cooked Salad Dressing (below). Sprinkle almonds over top. Serve immediately.
COOKED SALAD DRESSING
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup white vinegar
¼ teaspoon dry mustard
¼ teaspoon instant minced onion
dash of paprika
1 egg, beaten
¼ cup vegetable oil
Combine first 7 ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil 1 minute. Gradually stir in oil. Chill in refrigerator until ready to serve salad. Yield ¾ cup.

If you want to seem really thoughtful and supportive, get her a membership to a social club of her interest, or dance class or gym or toastmaster's, to help her make new friends and settle in to her new location.
Or you could make contact with a local volunteer group and set her up to meet them (if she likes to volunteer).
You could get her a really nice diary and schedule some suggested dates of activities in her new town, and write some nice wishes in it from everyone, and it will be a lovely and useful keepsake.

Hmmm, i would not put any finger food. Nothing soup with tomato in it. Umm nothing BBQed. I would put a Cooked Chicken out that was in a really good marinate. This wont be messy but it will be good. Use your head and be creative. If it is remotely messy, i wouldnt use it. Usually gourmet food is for formals and you dont want no one to get there suit or dress messy
