I agree that the slim fast coffee flavor weight loss drinks might be the best way to get a "coffee taste". Plus you'll get some vitamins and minerals out of it.

dependant on it's size , we use a package of dried onion soup mix…and about 1/2 cup of water….cook on high for 1 hour and then on low till the internal temp reaches 160 degrees(all day or all night)…let it sit for 10 minutes after it's done and it will be easier to cut and serve.

You will love this!

1/2 cup mayonnaise (I used Kraft)
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Lots of ground black pepper

Mix first 4 ingredients the cover top with pepper. Mix well and cover again with pepper.

Refrigerate for several hours to let the flavors marry.

Chances are it is in the coffee, but here are some ideas:

1) Not all coffee beans are created equal. Use Arabica Bean Coffee and Grind it Yourself. The oils on fresh beans are there to reduce bitterness, and are lost no long after beans are ground.

2) User filtered water. I live in an area where the water is very hard with lots of minerals and such, and it actually affects the the taste of the coffee.

3) Not all coffees are the same. Try a Kona Blend Hawaiian coffee which is known as some of the best in the world. Typically has a very smooth taste, rather than bitter.

I enjoy 100% Kona coffee but I only buy the green beans & roast my own. It takes full city roast very well. Ocassional drinking is OK & unblended it’s NOT for espresso. I use a 40% Costa Rican full city + or Vienna blend to get the aroma & flavor I prefer. IMO the Jamaican Blue Mountain is a much richer tasting bean than Kona. But the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is 1/4 the cost & tastes amazing too. Fresh roasted is always better than stale beans that’ve been sitting on a shelf for 6 months..

Is price a factor? if not, Maui.. if it is.. Big Island. Big Island is Hawaii in my opinion. Maui is very resorty…gorgeous but..a bit spendsy
Big Isl. Hawaii.. still small town, couple of gorgeous resorts and the scenery goes from desert volcano to lush green pastures to tropical rain forested waterfalls. You could spend a week exploring and still not see it all. But.. a couple of good towns to shop and enjoy. Seem like so far..opinion goes to Maui or Big Island. BUT we all agree.. stay outa Oahu..fun place, some great places to visit but 1/4 of the Island is one BIG city.

I think the temperatures and times are secrets. The beans have to be stirred like popcorn to keef from burning. Best experiment with a few at a time. You could get one of those cheap monon popcorn popper and try. I would think hot like 400-500 degrees and short time. I picked that temperature because it makes things brown like the crust on bread. I think if you go too long, the flavor will evaporate. The flavor is in the form of a gas. That is why it goes flat so quick. good luck
