You can used brewed coffee but not the grounds. If your recipe calls for 1 up of water and 2 teaspoons of instant espresso, replace that with 1 cup strongly brewed coffee. If you don't have enough liquid called for in the recipe then omit it or go out and get the instant.
I have made a chocolate tort (flourless chocolate cake) that called for instant espresso and successfully made it without the espresso. Really depends on the recipe to determine if you can leave it out.

What is the point of removing the coffee from the pot? The press pot is going to catch those ground anyways and you are using a small enough press pot that you are almost going to pour all the coffee in one cup. Why don’t you just leave it all in there?

Some old man body builder comes up to me and tells me that he doesn’t like the way that I breathe, he says that it is distracting? I was like “I don’t know what you are talking about” then he is like of course you can’t hear yourself wearing head phones. I was like “I wasn’t even in your area so not sure what you are talking about”. Then he was like “I remember you from some other time, don’t breathe like that around me”. Not wanting to cause a scene I was just like “what ever I will keep it in mind”.
